Metro Group Maritime Announces Appointment of Kate Ballengee, Esq. as Chief Strategy Officer

Metro Group Maritime (MGM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kate Ballengee, Esq. as Chief Strategy Officer, effective immediately. Kate has been with MGM for 18 years, during which she has demonstrated exceptional leadership, deep industry expertise, and an unwavering commitment to the company’s mission and its clients.

The addition of the Chief Strategy Officer role to MGM’s executive framework underscores the organization’s commitment to long-term, sustainable leadership and growth within the maritime and transportation sectors. In this newly established role, Kate will oversee the development, integration, and execution of MGM’s long-range strategic initiatives, ensuring the company remains competitive, innovative, and resilient in a rapidly evolving global marketplace.

As Chief Strategy Officer, Kate will lead the development and refinement of MGM’s multi-year corporate strategy, aligning business priorities with emerging industry trends and client needs. She will evaluate new market opportunities, strategic partnerships, and service expansions to strengthen MGM’s competitive position, and drive cross-departmental strategic initiatives to ensure operational alignment and organizational readiness for long-term objectives. Kate will also continue to lead MGM’s litigation function, bringing a uniquely integrated perspective to corporate strategy and client engagement, and will continue to contribute to regulatory strategy and compliance initiatives through her ongoing role in MGM’s Regulatory and Audit Division.

Kate is actively involved in numerous industry-focused organizations, where she works to advance and promote the maritime sector both regionally and nationally. She received her undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA, and her law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law in Lexington, VA. She also holds an Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics from Middlesex University Business School and Lloyd’s Maritime Academy in London.
