Our executive team is equipped with specialized industry knowledge and many years of experience to best understand the nuances of shipping and logistics clients’ needs and requirements. The following are brief professional biographies of our leadership team.

Marcus L. Arky, Esq.

Chief Executive Officer and Counsel

Marcus Arky received his law degree from the St. Johns School of Law in New York and was admitted to the New York (1996) and New Jersey (1995) Bars. It was at St. Johns that Marcus took an interest in maritime and transportation law and has since then been involved in serving the shipping and logistics industry for 22 years. At Metro Group, Marcus assists clients in pivoting faster to the ephemeral environments and paradigms of global economics. Further, he assists our clients with a collaborative vision that customizes Metro Group’s services to the needs of the client.

Neil Ross, Esq.

Chief Customer Officer and Counsel

Neil Ross received his law degree at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Yeshiva University and is admitted to the New York Bar (1996). Additionally, Neil has taken continuing education at the United States Merchant Marine Academy. As a collection attorney, Neil noticed the nuances specific to the transportation industry and has been involved with the shipping industry for 22 years. At Metro Group, Neil specializes in OTI surety bond claims. Neil works with the firm’s staff and customers to ensure the highest level of customer care.

Bryan Press, Esq.

Counsel

Bryan Press has been a practicing attorney for over 30 years. He is licensed in Florida (1983) and New Jersey (1984). He is admitted to the Federal District Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the District of New Jersey. He is also admitted to the 3rd and 11th Circuits. Mr. Press specializes in the intersection of collections and transportation. He has been engaged in the field of creditor rights and Insolvency since starting practice in 1984. Mr. Press is Metro Group Maritime’s litigation liaison specialist and supervisor of local counsel. He undertakes the review of files in-house to ascertain the eligibility and viability of the claim in litigation and then coordinates with local counsel to effect prosecution.. Further, Bryan helps to streamline the collection and/or litigation processes.

Steve Young

Chief Operating Officer

Steve Young is one of the founding principals of our company. He has been involved in the collection industry for 25 years, of which 22 have been focused on the transportation industry. As the COO, Steve is responsible for facilitating all aspects of major client projects, including operations, technology and personnel.

Kate Ballengee, Esq.

Counsel

Kate Ballengee serves as Counsel and Director of Business Development. She has worked at Metro Group Maritime since 2007, overseeing the litigation department on behalf of Metro Group Maritime’s ocean carrier and wider transportation industry clients including chassis-leasing companies, Class 1 railroads, NVOCCs, freight forwarders, and motor carriers amongst others. Kate received her undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA and her law degree from Washington and Lee University, School of Law in Lexington, VA. Kate earned an Executive MBA in Shipping and Logistics through Middlesex University Business School and Lloyd’s Maritime Academy in London.

Our team is composed of lawyers, steamship line veterans and financial professionals. Having former industry managers working as front-line collectors is a Metro Group Maritime innovation and is a major part of the firm’s approach. This leads to the most effective customer relationship management, problem solving, and collections. Our collectors hold and average of 18+ years of experience in our industry, and we retain the service of 4 in-house lawyers.
